Outside for the very first time!
I'm working through a batch of 300+ photos. We'll keep adding new ones to the mix.
Mashed Puppies
Mashing puppies is one of our favorite transitions. At three weeks, we start them on a semi-solid mixture of dog food and puppy formula blended up into a runny paste. We normally serve them on our oriental rug in the dining room, because they're so neat about eating—but this time they're being fed in their whelping box area.

And the puppies continue to gain strength and develop personalities. I sat in the box this evening with them and I had four of them in my lap—they're really people-oriented already. That's probably because Jen spends so much time handling them. Sage is a little tiger—she's running around the box already while the rest of them are just figuring out the walking thing. Cinnamon Bobka is hysterical—he's always laying on his back while snoozing. He reminds me of Hershey from a few litters ago.
It's starting to get fun!
More puppies…
Aren't you people getting tired of these puppies yet? Neither are we. Eyes are opening, and they're moving around on four legs quite a bit. It's fun watching them learn to walk. In addition, they're starting to bark and growl at times, which is really cute. Sixteen days old today!
One week in…
And everyone is doing well. Jen has been spending some time supplementing the puppies with formula since last weekend. It took a little while for Cami's milk to come in, and with 11 puppies we wanted to make sure they were getting what they needed. The formula took care of this, and everyone was good and healthy for the dew claws visit on Monday. Since then they've continued to gain weight, and Cami has been an excellent mother (observant but not overly nuts).
Here's some photos from this morning.
